The doors are officially open!
Recently we celebrated the ribbon cutting for the Rancho Cordova Community Food Hub, a beautiful new chapter for an organization that has been serving our community for years.
The celebration brought together volunteers, city leaders, community partners, and neighbors, and even included the hokey pokey before they cut the ribbon! It was a fun reminder of what this place is all about: community, connection, dignity, and helping our neighbors.
What makes the new Food Hub so special is that it feels more like a grocery store than a traditional food pantry. Families can shop and choose the fresh produce, pantry staples, proteins, and culturally familiar foods that are right for their households, all at no cost to them.
Formerly known as the Rancho Cordova Food Locker, the organization has grown from serving about 300 families a week in 2022 to more than 1,500 today. This new 6,600-square-foot space gives the organization room to grow and serve even more families with the dignity and choice everyone deserves.
Thank you to Executive Director Carrie Johnson and the many volunteers, supporters, community leaders, and partners who helped make this vision a reality. What an incredible milestone for our community!
